Why is it that we love tiny waistcoated creatures?
Rabbits in waistcoats and mice in aprons… A little reflection on our enduring affection for anthropomorphic animals.

Your Basket is Empty
Name: Monty
Likes: Biscuits, bonfires and hearty chats
Dislikes: Empty tins and squeaky boots
Hobbies: Organising games, telling long stories and bringing round freshly baked biscuits “just because”
Monty is the life of any gathering, with a knack for making everyone feel welcome and a tin of biscuits never far from reach
No two bears are ever quite the same ... but each one is made with care, quiet thoughts and happy wishes.
Please note:
Due to their small size and tiny details including glass bottles and other miniature parts, they are not intended to be toys and should be kept out of reach of young children.
These bears are best kept somewhere cosy - a shelf, a windowsill, or a quiet corner where they can watch the world go by safely.
About Wishing Wood…
Wishing Wood is a quiet, tucked away place in my imagination where tea and toast are in plentiful supply and life moves slowly.
It’s home to a small and thoughtful community of bears — each one carefully made by hand, with a heart full of character and brimming with wishes for good things. You’ll find them living in ivy covered cottages, reading books, napping under woolly blankets and pondering and pontificating about life.
If you close your eyes and imagine, you can probably see Wishing Wood with its soft mossy paths, wildflowers and tiny, practically hidden away homes…
Even as an adult, it’s nice to let your imagination take flight every now and then and nestle yourself in a cosy little world, however fleeting your visit may be!
