About the artist…
Jean Gilder (1930-2019) was a British author and illustrator, born in London, whose magical landscapes and beloved animal characters charmed generations around the world. Published by the Medici Society, she wrote and illustrated ten children’s booklets as well as numerous story cards and postcards. Her art, inspired by a lifelong love of the countryside, remains treasured for its warmth, imagination and quiet enchantment.
